We’re not off our trolleys
The big hearts of hotel staff across the UK have been displayed during the pandemic, with some extraordinary stories of going the extra mile for both hospitality good causes and other charities. We’ve reported on many of these endeavours, but this is the first time housekeeping trolleys have had a starring role.
Seven housekeepers from Hotel Sheraton at Bispham, Blackpool, pulled on fancy dress inspired by cleaning ‘stars’ of film and TV and took their trolleys on a tour of the resort, raising around £2,000 for the Molly Olly’s Wishes charity, founded 10 years ago by a couple whose daughter died from a rare kidney cancer.
Leading the unusual trolley dash was head housekeeper Jeannette Lovatt, ably assisted by Alison, Sandie and Cliona Beavers, Annie Hatcher, Ellie Spencer and Peter Cox. Their journey took them to the famous tower and back, with staff at sister hotel The Elgin, cheering them on along the way.
Local businesses and hotel guests supported the fundraiser and now there are plans to make it an annual event involving housekeeping teams from across Blackpool. You can support this good cause at https://www.justgiving.com/ fundraising/mollyollytrolleydash.
