Village Hotel Club reveals ‘aggressive’ £480m UK expansion plan

Village Hotel Club has shared its ambition to open five hotels over the next two years and a further 15 sites by 2026.

The hotel chain, which currently has 29 hotels across the UK, undertook research that indicated there are over 100 potential Village Hotel locations across the UK.

By 2020, five new Village Hotel Clubs are to launch in Southampton, Basingstoke, Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Slough. Executive chairman Gary Davis unveiled the plans as the brand opened its 30th hotel in January, in Filton, Bristol. The Village Hotel Club is a hightech hotel concept with a focus on being a ‘modern-day hub’ for the community.

Each hotel is home to bedrooms, gyms, a hot-desking business called VWorks and the Village Hotel Pub and Grill. Previously, Davis served as the chief executive officer of Malmaison Hotel du Vin Holdings Limited; chief executive officer of De Vere Village Hotels at De Vere Group plc. and as a senior executive at Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood bringing the popular brands to the UK.

Davis said: “The openings in Bristol this year, and Portsmouth last year, mark a turning point in Village Hotel Club’s expansion plans, and Bristol is our most high-tech hotel to date. We are continuing to innovate and develop the product with the modern visitor and resident in mind, and I look forward to working with the entire Village team to ensure that we continue to deliver success.”
