UKHA Summer Ball 2019: The Real Housekeepers of Cheshire
The ‘Glitz and Glam’ themed UKHA Summer Ball hosted by the Manchester and North West region at Shrigley Hall in Cheshire was a huge success.
The weather was on our side and all enjoyed a champagne reception on the terrace, before being ushered into Tilden Suite. The whole event was planned to perfection.
Each table being named after a famous champagne brand, with full to the brim goodie bags at every seat. Typical Manchester fayre was the order of the day for dinner, with nonother than Nan McDowell’s husband being chef for the evening.
There was a great mix of entertainment including the popular raffle which raised £1,500. Nicole Regan chair of the Manchester and NW region commented: “A fabulous evening had by all, it was lovely to see everybody relaxed and enjoying themselves. Myself and the committee were very humbled by the amazing feedback we had. “We would like to thank the team at Shrigley Hall and especially Helen Valentine, Eamonn Phelan, James Sheard, Ian Mc Dowell (chef), and Debbie Bland (HK) our sponsors and all those companies that kindly donated raffle prizes and goodies for the gift bags.” The celebrity guest for the evening was Seema Malhotra, star of Real Housewives of Cheshire and also the founder of the luxury fashion brand Forever Unique. Malhotra was introduced by Raj Ruia, and was on hand to chat to guests about the reality TV show, and have photos taken with the guests.
During dinner she gave an insight in to her role on the show and the charities which she is devoted to. Raj Ruia, MD of Richard Haworth said “When I saw that the theme of this year’s UKHA Summer Ball was The Real Housekeepers of Cheshire I immediately thought of my friend Seema who appears in the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Cheshire. “When I explained to Seema what the Association seeks to achieve she, without hesitation, agreed to lend her support to the evening. “It was fabulous to see her take such an interest in the hard work that the housekeeping industry puts in to ensure millions of guests in hotels are taken care of. She completely picked up on the fact that without the housekeeping fraternity a hotel is unable to function.
Seema, as a succesful female entrepenuer, who has worked with Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford over the years, she was particularly interested with the challenges faced by the housekeeping industry with respect to career advancement and spent most of the evening chatting with guests. It was an honour to have Seema attend the Summer Ball and judging by the reaction of the guests they were very pleased to see her.”
