‘It just works’: How Refillution from ADA Cosmetics streamlined hotel housekeeping At the Best Western…

The Star journey to better sleep
This summer Star Linen UK turns 10, a milestone marking a special bond with housekeepers.
What started as a small team bringing the Star Linen USA brand to the UK hotel market has grown into a busy, slightly sleep-obsessed business supporting hotel groups, B&Bs, guest accommodation and universities up and down the country. If you’ve ever wrestled with a duvet that won’t behave, tried to stretch one more cycle out of a towel or faced the joy of a last-minute group booking, you’ll know why Star Linen exists. Their job is to make those moments a bit easier and a lot more comfortable, for both guests and housekeeping teams.
From first orders to hotel groups and universities
In the early days, the focus was simple: get great-quality bedding and towelling into hotel bedrooms on time, every time. Over the years that’s expanded into a much broader mix of customers. Today, Star Linen is proud to support well-known names such as Leonardo Hotels, Village Hotels, Macdonald Hotels, YTL Hotels and Marston’s, alongside independent properties, guest houses and student accommodation across the UK. They’ve helped Oxford and Cambridge colleges prepare thousands of rooms so that students arrive to find beds made, pillows plumped and everything ready to go. The settings may be different in a five-star city hotel, family-run B&B, lakeside resort or a historic college but the brief is always the same: help the housekeeping team deliver a welcoming, well-presented room without adding extra stress behind the scenes.
Housekeeping at the heart of the story
If there’s one thing that the first 10 years have taught Star Linen’s team, it’s that housekeepers are often the unsung heroes of hospitality. They’ve seen first-hand how much pride people take in their rooms, how quickly they react when something’s not quite right and how much pressure they carry during turnarounds, events and peak seasons. It’s why Star Linen design and choose products with the people on the floor in mind, from how a duvet feels when it’s shaken out, to how linen performs after dozens of laundry cycles. A big part of their work has been simply listening, joining site visits, walking back-of-house corridors, hearing about the reality of stock levels, lost items, changeovers and those infamous ‘Can we just…’ calls. The best ideas often come from a supervisor or housekeeper who points out a small detail that makes a big difference.

Becoming a B Corp and why it matters to housekeeping
One of the proudest moments in Star Linen’s journey was becoming a Certified B Corp. For the management and staff, this wasn’t just a badge. It meant putting the whole business under the microscope, from how they treat their team and work with suppliers to the impact on the environment and local communities and committing to do better each year. For housekeeping teams and hotel leaders, it means they’re working with a supplier that cares about more than just the next order. Star Linen are investing in responsible sourcing, UK manufacture where possible, circular schemes like ReStart and Avena and a Climate Action Plan that looks at how to cut emissions, reduce waste and support hotels’ ESG goals as well as guest scores.
They want our bedding and towelling to feel good in the room and feel right in the wider world.
What guests and customers say
Star Linen are lucky enough to hear feedback from both sides of the door. Guests talk about comfortable pillows, cosy duvets and rooms that feel “Just right”. Accommodation teams praise reliability, quick responses and the fact that they can pick up the phone and speak to someone who understands why a delayed delivery on a changeover day is no small thing.
Independent review platforms like Feefo have been a helpful reality check, too. Verified feedback about quick dispatch, helpful customer service and consistent quality keeps Star Linen honest and provides plenty of ideas for where to improve next.
It’s these comments from laundry managers, housekeepers, students arriving to made beds, and guests enjoying a great night’s sleep that really bring the last 10 years to life for the business.
Looking ahead: the next 10 years
So, what comes next? There’s no plan to reinvent the wheel. Instead, Star Linen want to keep doing the basics brilliantly: durable, comfortable products that make rooms look and feel good; service that supports housekeeping rather than adding to their workload; and open, honest conversations about sustainability, circularity and climate action.
If the last decade has been about building trust and understanding what housekeeping teams need, the next decade is about going further using impact reporting, climate plans and B Corp standards to make sure every product and decision moves hospitality in the right direction. MD Stephen Broadhurst says: “To everyone in housekeeping who has worked with us, challenged us and trusted our products in their rooms: thank you. You’ve been central to our first 10 years and we’re looking forward to supporting you for many more nights, shifts and turnarounds to come.”
