Staycation bookings soar
If what’s going on in the Lake District is anything to go by, 2022 looks set to be a busy year for hotels in leisure stay ‘hotspots’.
Keswick Tourism Association has revealed that a surge in bookings during the first week of January was two-and-a-half times greater than January 2020, prior to the arrival of Covid-19.
Their commission-free booking platform also recorded a 28 per cent increase for December 2021 on the same period in 2019, even though fears over the Omicron variant and government restrictions came into play.
Vanessa Metcalfe, the association’s tourism manager, has welcomed the uplift at a time when many members were facing staffing and supply chain challenges.
