Hotels create ‘thank you’ giveaways for NHS workers

Hotels up and down the country are creating special giveaway packages to allow people to say ‘thank you’ to NHS workers who are tirelessly providing care during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Farncombe Estate in the Cotswolds, which comprises Dormy House, Foxhill Manor and The Fish, is running an initiative enabling people to nominate NHS workers to receive a series of giveaways from across the three hotels.

Prizes will include spa days, move nights, dinners as well as overnight stays, to be enjoyed when the hotels are up and running after travel restrictions are lifted.

Over 2,100 people have already nominated their #NHSHero for the first giveaway, a Time for TLC Spa experience.

Chief executive at Farncombe Estate, Andrew Grahame said: “It’s a hugely challenging time for our industry, but we want to focus on all the positive things we can do during the closure of our hotels. In the weeks ahead we’ll be regularly announcing thank you gifts from Dormy House, The Fish and Foxhill Manor, giving you the chance to nominate an NHS worker to be thanked, with the gifts to be enjoyed when our doors are open again.”

Homewood in Bath, owned and operated by Ian and Christa Taylor, is running a similar scheme, gifting a special experience every Thursday evening following the weekly rousing Clap for Carers.

Every week a nominated winner will be chosen at random from entries made on Homewood’s Facebook or Instagram pages and will receive prizes such as afternoon tea, a spa day, private wine tasting and an overnight stay.

Homewood and The Bird, Bath, part of The Kaleidoscope Collection, will be turning their buildings blue every Thursday in support and are also currently offering free car parking spaces for NHS staff.

The Taylors have had to furlough all established staff across both properties, but employees are still being paid 100% of their salaries.
